What is resveratrol?
Resveratrol is a secondary plant compound and belongs to the polyphenols.
It is found in various plants, such as grapes, raspberries, peanuts, and Japanese knotweed. Due to the processing of grapes, resveratrol is particularly abundant in red wine. Traditionally, red wine has always been considered beneficial to health.
Resveratrol is part of the plant immune system and serves as protection for plants against parasites and fungal infections. Humans also take advantage of this function.
Resveratrol is known for its antioxidant properties, which play a particularly important role in cell protection . As a free radical scavenger, resveratrol can help reduce oxidative stress. OPC resveratrol is said to support the cardiovascular system by supplying the cells of the human body with oxygen and nutrients.
